Free Advice

Here is some free advice to a plethora of high maintenance students at universities around the country:

The world does not revolve around you. All the stars in the world won’t align to ensure that your universe is in perfect harmony.

Every answer you get, for every question you ask, will not always be a YES. NO is a simple word, an N and an O. Nothing to it — just that simple.

Mom and Dad, and Deans’ and Presidents’, can’t solve all your problems — most of which are imaginary. A sense of urgency is a figment of your imagination and does not constitute an emergency on my part.

Life is not a series of black and white solutions. Grey is the order of the day. You are not entitled to everything your little heart desires. The day you figure that out, the world will be your oyster.

Till then, a touch of humility will go a long way in helping you. And, one other thing — “sorry”, “please”, and “thank you”, will serve you well. Use them frequently. And, like my advice, they are absolutely free!
